A Day at the Beach

Bourganvillea growing wild beside the road.

Where the lava flow hits the edge of Big Beach.

Big Beach.

Ahihi Volcanic Beach.

Across to the island of Kaho'olawe in the distance.

Yesterday we decided to have another Chill Out day and spend it at the beach, we explored two which were recommended by the owner of our Condo, they were Ahihi which is actually a lava beach created when the Haleakala volcano on Maui last erupted in 1790. It is also a Natural Underwater Preserve. This beach is really for Scuba Divers and Snorkeling and is quite difficult to access because of the lava flow. The second beach was Big Beach which is in the Makena State Park and is the largest undeveloped white sand beach on Maui. This is where we spent the majority of our day.
